Buffaloes 16 Xfm Impis 13

Saturday Fixtures:

Heathens v Buffaloes

DMark Kobs v G4S Pirates

Xfm Impis v Mongers

XFM Impis attributed a16-13 defeat by Buffaloes on Wednesday to fatigue, bad luck and poor officiating by the referee for awarding unnecessary penalties and calls instead of letting the game to flow.

What had been expected to be a walkover for Buffaloes turned tricky when they were forced to hang on for the win in the Nile Special Premier Rugby League game played at Kyadondo Grounds.

The game played on the water logged pitch following the heavy afternoon downpour, saw Buffaloes race to a 13-0 half time lead through a try by Gerald Ssewankambo and two penalties coupled with a conversion by fly half Robert Sseguya.

After the interval, Impis regrouped and mounted pressure that yielded two penalties and a try by Keith Sseruyange before Daudi Ssemwami added a conversion to level the game at 13-13.

Robert Sseguya who was playing as a fly-half for the first time, squandered several chances to seal the win for Buffaloes, including a missed penalty in the 75th minute.

Sseguya was on hand to atone atone for the misses in the 80th minute when he scored a controversial penalty to secure a 16-13 victory at the death.

“It was a bad day for my kicking but I will always keep training. Four times a week working out in the gym has kept me going longer than younger men,” Sseguya said before he received his man of the match plaque from URU secretary Alex Kalimugogo.
