I am a 25-year-old woman working in a Kampala suburb. My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship for about a year. Recently, I got pregnant and when I broke the news to him, he told me to go for an abortion, which he would pay for. It is now close to a month and he has not fulfilled this promise.
He no longer calls me and when I phone him, he hangs up. When I use a different phone number and he recognises my voice, he hangs up and switches off his phone.
Fortunately, my boyfriend had introduced me to his best friend. When I contacted him, he told me that my boyfriend was a married man and has a child.
This information reminded me of two things. Earlier, my boyfriend had also mentioned that I was not the first woman he had dated, but he never disclosed that he was married or had a child. During our last conversation, he told me not to visit him again, as he was married.
In addition, recently, I discovered that we belong to the same clan. Should I carry on with the pregnancy even though we belong to the same clan or have an abortion? I am terrified about the dangers of abortion.
