KAMPALA - Twelve-year-old Benon Kiirya is lying in Mulago Referral Hospital in excruciating pain with a fish bone stuck in his throat.
Kiirya, a Primary Four pupil at Kidera Primary School in Kamuli, swallowed a fish bone in 2011, but all along, his parents were seeking treatment from traditional healers, thinking that the bone would be removed.
His father, Joseph Tenywa, who is nursing him at the hospital, said they later went to Kamuli Healthcare Emergency for treatment, but they were later referred to Mulago Hospital for specialised treatment.
Kiirya, a first born in the family of twelve children, can hardly eat, which has affected his health because he eats less.
The boy is feeling too much pain in the throat and is experiencing difficult in breathing. He is due for an operation at Mulago Hospital.
Recently a five year-old Doreen Mulung had a sh100 coin stuck in her throat. She had the coin removed after an operation at the national referral health facility.
