The butcher who went on the run after hacking his lover to death in Kyengera has been found dead.

David Kizito's body was found lying in a swamp in River Mayanja in Bulenga by a resident who had gone to cut papyrus.

The Kyengera police post chief C/ASP Jackson Maumbe said they were alerted by a resident that Kizito's body was lying in a swamp.

He said just beside the body lay a panga [machete]. He said the dead butcher could have been moving with it for self defence in case people pursued him.

His body was taken to the mortuary.

Kizito went on the run after hacking his lover, Hajara Namata in the wee hours of Monday in their house in Nkokonjeru Zone. Namata was found by the landlord who had heard her screaming for help in the dead of the night.

Namata was found bleeding profusely from a deep cut on the head and rushed to hospital, but died on arrival at Mulago national referral hospital.

A mother of three and married to Wahab Yiga, Namata is believed to have started a relationship with Kizito after the husband got too busy for her.

But Yiga said he had not been at home for two weeks because he was busy working.
