The Police are hunting for a man suspected to have hacked his lover to death and vanished afterwards.

David Kizito, 34, is suspected to have murdered Hajara Namata, at his home in Nkokonjeru village, Kyengera sub-county.

According to the Police, during the wee hours of Monday morning, Namata 35, was found lying in a pool of blood. She had wounds on her head and other parts of the body.The Police discovered a panga in the house bloodstained. They believe it is the weapon used to kill Namata.

“The neighbours said on the night before the atrocity, Namata was seen in the company of Kizito, a butcher in Kyengera. But yesterday morning she was found dead, with Kizito missing,” said the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Ibin Ssenkumbi. He was addressing a press conference at the Central Police Station in Kampala.

Ssenkumbi said according to their investigations,  Namata was married to a man identified as Abdul Wahab with whom they had three children. Namata is believed to have been having relationships with two men at once.  “It seems after learning that Namata was married to another man, it prompted Kizito to kill her,” Ssenkumbi said.

Sharifa Ndagire, Kizito's landlord, said at 1.00am she heard the deceased screaming for help. She said she alerted her neighbour and together they went to Kizito's house. She said they found Namata sprawled on the floor with blood gushing from a deep wound on her head, but still alive.

Ndagire said Namata, gasping for breath, gave them her brother's phone number to call. She died on arrival at Mulago national referral hospital.

Her brother, Mudathir Kakeeto,said when he recieved the call he rushed to her husband's place, but found no one and called again to find out where she was. He was later to find out that Namata had been slaughtered at her lover's place.

Her husband, Wahab, said he had not been home in two weeks because he worked at night in Makindye where he owns a make shift cinema, commonly known as 'kibanda'. He said they had been married for seven years.

The Kyengera Police station chief, Patrick Lule said the case was recorded on file number SD:03/18/02/2013 as the search for Kizito intensifies.
