Police are investigating circumstances under which a British national died in a Chez Johnson hotel room in Muyenga on Sunday night.

Elder Bruce Ferguson reportedly lost a lot of blood from wounds he sustained on his hands in an incident that Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi said they are still treating as suicide.

“He cut both his hands and bled. When he realized that he had lost a lot of blood, he notified the hotel staff but it was too late,” Ssenkumbi told New Vision yesterday.

However, sources said Ferguson on Sunday night went to a yet to be established bar in Kabalagala, in the posh city suburb, where he had fun and he retired to his hotel room with an unidentified prostitute.

It is suspected that the prostitute in connivance with colleagues diddled the Briton of huge sums of money before she fled from the hotel room.

Whereas Police suspect that Ferguson cut his veins and bled to death out of distraught, there were unconfirmed reports that the prostitute could have inflicted the cuts on him before she fled.

Sources said his body was by press time still at Mulago hospital where it was taken for a postmortem.

In February last year, Jeff Rice, a U.S. television producer, died of suspected cocaine overdose at Serena hotel.

South African Rice, a producer for a reality TV show, The Amazing Race, was found dead in his room while Catherine Fuller, his production assistant, was found unconscious in the same room.
