THE power dispute between Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) and Uganda Boxing Union (UBU) over who is the rightful body to sanction a professional fight in the country will wait until the heavyweight bout between Uganda’s Kenneth Odeke and Tanzania’s Ashraf Sulaiman is done on Friday.

The amicable agreement between UPBC and UBU was reached on Wednesday morning in a meeting chaired and arbitrated by National Council of Sports.

“We have agreed to have the fight on Friday and then we shall solve their existing wrangles later on,” NCS chairman Bosco Onyik confirmed the development.

Odeke and Suleiman are set to lock horns in a 10-round non-title contest due at Lugogo Indoor Stadium on Friday night.

UBU Chief executive officer Patrick Semambo lauded NCS for the timely intervention and called for harmony as both parties tries to find a lasting solution for the good of the sport.

“It’s unfortunate that the wrangles has affected us a lot with three of our sponsors jumping off board but its good the fight is on,” Semambo stated.

The fight organized by Black Boyz and Amazing crystal promotions is dubbed Uganda versus the rest of East Africa.

The event will also have four undercard bouts including that of Uganda’s US based Robert Kamya taking on Kenya’s Mark Oliech in the 10 rounds fight.
