According to a market survey, the demand for beans is high than supply. On Monday most traders in various markets around the city had run out of beans. Traders with stock were selling it expensively.

Sharon Munene, a trader at Nakawa market says that for the last one week the demand for beans was coming in from schools, yet the supply has been low especially for yellow beans.

She said demand had pushed a kilogram of nambale beans to shs2600 and shs3500 for yellow beans.

However the price of maize flour this year has stayed very stable even with resumption of school. A kilogram has stayed at sh1600-sh1800.
