Wilber Mugerwa, who scored aggregate 13 in last year’s O’level examinations from Nakasero Secondary School in Kampala, attributes his success to the bursary the school offered him in Senior Four.
He says heeding to teachers’ advice to focus on academics and steer clear of relationships worked wonders for him.
With a small bag of food supplements, which he has been selling during the vacation, Mugerwa sighed upon hearing the news of his performance.
“We had good teachers. Although they were strict, they had a mutual relationship with students. They counselled us and helped us avoid vices such as drug abuse,” he said.
The 17-year-old is a son of Dr. Apophia Tumnushabe and Samuel Kabugo, a policeman attached to Katwe Police Station.
The second born in a family of four, Mugerwa wants to become a heart surgeon to save thousands of children suffering from heart problems.
