KAMPALA - The Police have accused the parents of a murdered child of not being cooperative in investigations.

Last Friday, Solomon Byaruhanga and his wife Phiona returned home at St. Anne Zone, Kabowa, a city suburb in Lubaga Division, Kampala and found their little boy Sean Byaruhanga and housemaid, Victoria Muyaba, had been murdered.

Byaruhanga and wife are both bank employees with Barclays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank respectively.

In an exclusive interview with New Vision, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson SP Ibn Ssenkumbi said that they have encountered some hindrances in their investigations.

“We have encountered some challenges during our investigations as parents and bosses of the deceased seem not to be interested in opening up to police.

"There are signs that parents know the assailants but are hesitant to reveal to police so that they assist us in the investigations,” said Ssenkumbi.

He said that basing on the writings the assailants left on the wall, there are clues that the parents have some information they are not revealing.

“Let them tell police about that relationship mentioned in the writings but being silent about such salient issues may delay the investigations,” Senkumbi said.

A crude message had been written on the wall of the living room: “Leave my man alone! This is just the beginning!’’

The regional CID of Katwe Police has forwarded samples that include mucus, blood and saliva of the deceased to the Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) for further investigations.

Ssenkumbi said that they expect the GAL analysis and the postmortem reports later this week.

Meanwhile police have advised the parents to stay away from the house in Kabowa and are now believed to be staying with their relatives as investigations go on.

The home where the gruesome murder was committed

Last Friday evening, when Byaruhanga and his wife returned to the comfort of their home after a long day to be with family, what confronted them instead was a scene of horror.

Their little bundle of joy, Sean, was found lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom with three stab wounds; on the forehead, left hand-side of the chest and lower abdomen. His intestines were hanging out.

The housemaid, whose body lay in the living room, had faced the same fate. She had eight stab wounds; two in the head, one on the right-hand side of the chest, and four in the abdomen.
