 Traders along Kampala road in the city center are in a power blackout for the last three days.  

Trader mainly dealing in electronic, food stuff and owners of photo studios, stretching from Shell Capital Kampala road to Baker's World are the most affected.

Some of the traders New Vision spoke to said that they have been trying to get in touch with UMEME and the power supplier has been assuring them that they are working on the problem.

"We spend a lot on fuel for our generators. This is in the city centre why cannot they supply us with power," Akbar Chaganni Manger MSI East Africa on Kampala road said.

"Our customers who want to test the computers they have purchased from us have been affected and many have gone away, the noise from the generators is too much for us and customers have gone away," Sadat Lubowa a computer dealer said.

"It has been three days from Saturday to date without power and UMEME keeps promising us. Our electrical equipment are breaking down and this has affected our business," Canon World Managing Director, Thobhani Kaushik said.

The medicine we were selling needs a lot of attention; we have to get fuel for the generator in order to keep the refrigerator cool, Health Care owners said.

When contacted however, an official at UMEME said they had sent a technical team to check the problem, he however, said it is only a day since they got the report and not three days as the traders were alleging.
