Toyota Buffaloes whipped Sadolin Mongers 38-10 in an entertaining Nile Special premier Rugby League fixture at Kyadondo rugby ground on Saturday.

The highly billed game that was handled by Scottish referee Ian Ross had Buffaloes dominating play with superb ball handling, ball spinning and perfect pitch movement.

Ross was impressed with the skills and stated after the match, “Uganda has talents and I think in times to come if groomed well, Kenya will be no more in the IRB sevens series.”

Two tries by Solomon Okia, a try and four conversions by Philip Pario and another by Eric Kasita and Alfred Bijik were enough to hand Buffaloes a second consecutive win.

Ronald Adigas and 2011 Nile Special Rugby MVP Andrew Olwenyi notched the only two tries for Mongers.

“We failed to utilise our set pieces and coordination was not good that is why we lost. But it’s not yet over we are going to regroup,” Mongers coach player Adigas stated after the game.

At Legends Kampala rugby club, it was a shock for the G4S Pirates as they lost 15-10 to Rhinos. A penalty try, a try by James Musitwa and a penalty and conversion by fly half Byron Atubikire were enough to hand Rhinos their first ever victory over Pirates in the league as two tries by Denis Etuket and Arnold Nyawanga could not salvage them.

At Makerere, eleven tries shared by Asuman Mugerwa, Philip Wokorach, Allan Okello, Brian Tibashoboka, Arthur Mukama and Scot Oluoch were enough to hand Heathens a 69-0 victory over Xfm Impis.

Earlier on Friday, DMark Kobs’ Justin Kimono underlined his status as a Nile Special Premier Rugby League superstar when he was voted man of the match after the 46-6 Kobs whipping of Summer Kamp.

“It’s great emerging man of the match twice in two matches, but my actual target is seeing Kobs win the title this season,” Kimono stated.
