Over 460 residents of Buwaya village in Mayuge district completed a two-week basic computer training course on Friday.
The trainees received certificates of completion in a ceremony presided over Bunya East MP Woira Kyewalabye Majegere at St. John’s Secondary School main hall recently.
Majegere said technological advancement required everybody to have an idea about how computers work.
“You people are now using mobile phones for Internet or as small CD players at home, while storing lots of music on their memory cards. That is computerised technology, which you can use well after acquisition of such basic skills,” he said.
The training at St. John’s computer laboratory was facilitated by Uganda Communications Commission. It covered Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet usage.
Majegere advised the participants to take up such trainings whenever an opportunity comes up so as to remain practical.
