International friendly

Rwanda v Uganda 4pm

Uganda Cranes coach Bobby Williamson will use the international friendly against Rwanda on Wednesday to identify fresh players, who will boost his 2014 World Cup chances.

Cranes resume their World Cup qualification campaign against Liberia in Monrovia on March 22 and Williamson said that he was looking for young players especially strikers to beef up their established colleagues in the campaign.

Williamson offered Gor Mahia striker Dan Sserunkuuma another chance on the Cranes team despite the player snubbing an earlier call to feature in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup last year.

In a surprise response, Football Kenya Federation player of the year 2012 was the first foreign-based player to arrive for training. He joined a host of home-based colleagues in training at Namboole yesterday.

Uganda is preparing to face Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars in a build-up match at Amahoro stadium on Wednesday.

Williamson said that he has included Sserunkuuma on the squad to offer him another chance after the stout striker showed eagerness to turn up for Uganda.
