Thursday: Senior Men’s team

UGANDAN cricketers at the national level are benefiting from the invluable services of former Indian national cricket team's fitness trainer Adrian Le Roux, who is currently working with Kolkata Knight Riders.

Le Roux has been in the country since Sunday together with KKR's assistant coach and former Indian cricketer, Vijah Dahiya, on a fully sponsored trip, which is aimed at giving the national team tips on how to train in order to improve on their performance.

Being assisted by the national coaches and school development programme officials, the two coaches have so far taken the national women, U-19s  and are now in their third day of working with the national senior men’s team through training sessions.

The duo’s trip is sponsored by Mehta Group of Companies and Kolkata Knight Riders. Mehta are the official sponsors of the national men and women teams.

“What we are looking at is for you to improve on performance. You have to continue practicing whatever we are telling you for thousands of times so that you get used to them. That way it will become easier for you to get better results,” Le Roux told the team that was training at the Lugogo synthetic hockey pitch.

According to the Uganda Cricket Association chief executive officer Justine Ligyalingi, the trip comes in handy as the national teams are all preparing for different international events.

“We are very thankful for our partners. We have started yielding results, and we expect to benefit even more when we have a camp in India,” added Ligyalingi.
