A feuding couple stunned residents when they revealed how they murdered their own child and buried it in the foundation of their house in Kireka-Banda in Kisenyi Zone, Nakawa Municipality.

Emmanuel Kalema, 32, and his wife identified only as Aisha, 28, got a misunderstanding on Sunday before the latter packed up her belongings to leave together with their children.

But just before she could set foot out of the compound, Kalema dropped the jaw-dropping bombshell.

After failing to block her from taking their children, he shouted after her: "If you are taking those children you also take the one we murdered and buried!"

Residents dig up the spot where the baby was buried

The words sliced through the air like an unmanned drone gliding undetected through the skies of Afghanistan! Stunned residents that had gathered to witness the drama swung into action and tasked Kalema to explain what he had just uttered.

Cornered, he then gave a chilling confession of how he had convinced Aisha to murder the child whose father she said had abandoned it and she had nowhere to put it.

Kalema said he had convinced her that they could get rid of the child secretly and start a 'new love life' without any outstanding issues.

He said together, they ended the little innocent child's life and under the cover of darkness, buried it in the foundation of the house.

Residents dug up the foundation and found a polythene bag with the child's remains.

Long after the secret was out in the open, Kalema attempted to flee but was restrained by angry residents. He however managed to wrestle away from them before the Police could come and arrest him .

By this time Aisha had already vanished in thin air.

Some of the couple's neighbours said by the time Aisha moved to the area she had a baby but they believed she had taken it somewhere.

Kyambogo police boss ASP Martin Mbabazi said investigations into the matter are ongoing. Kalema is still at large.
