JAS Mangat opens the 2013 season in jovial mood having landed sponsorship from Air Uganda and is poised to be flagged off in a safe sixth position in the KCB Kajiado Rally in Nairobi, Kenya this weekend.

Mangat who is also USPA rally driver of year will compete in all eight Kenya National Rally Championship races this season as he seeks to win both the Uganda and Kenya titles.

“It is a potentially great partnership because Air Uganda has spread its wings in East Africa while just like our rally team. I have already started enjoying more comfortable travel before we even formalise the sponsorship when I return from Kenya,” an elated Mangat told New Vision.

Mangat who has been cleared by Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) to compete in Kenya as well will return home to start his title defence in the Mbarara Rally.

“I have competed in Kenya for a while so I am familiar with the roads and the level of competition. It’s the right time to go and bring the Kenya national title to Uganda,” Mangat stated.

Competitors will go route reccing today, scrutineering of cars will be conducted tomorrow and race will be on Sunday.
