Hoima RDC killed in road accident, family injured

Hoima deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Abdul Watimba Swamadu has died in a car accident.

He together with his three children got involved in an accident along Hoima-Kampala road at around 2:00pm at Kamirambazi village in Bukwiri town, Kyankwanzi district while travelling to Hoima from Kampala.

Watimba and his three children identified as Waiswa Hawali, 28, Moses Watimba, 20 and Sharif Watimba, 17 plus his driver only identified as Shim also sustained injuries.

Moses Watimba while at Hoima hospital said the speeding Nissan hard body vehicle registration number UG 2120C went off the pavement road before the car overturned.

Watimba, was rushed to Hoima referral hospital in a police ambulance and the four in a hospital ambulance before they were referred to Mulago national referral hospital at 6:40pm.

The Mid-western police spokesperson, Lydia Tumushabe, told New Vision on Wednesday that Watimba, died at Mulago on Wednesday at 8:00am where he was referred for advanced management after he sustained deep cuts in the head and neck.

He will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Muganga village, Mbale parish Imanyiro sub- County, Mayuge district.
