Three people were killed and several others injured ina  road accident involving a bus and a lorry along Mbarara-Masaka highway Wednesday morning.

A Kanungu-bound bus, Savana coach, registration number UAE 044M collided with a Fuso lorry registration number UAJ 449.

The tragedy occurred at Kyapa in Sanga, three kilometers from Sanga town Kiruhura district.

The deceased were identified as Vincent Kakuza Mayambara, the driver of the lorry, another occupant only identified as Henry (both from Kakuto in Rakai) and Patrick Asimwe of Kihihi in Kanungu district.

The bus had 65 passengers on board.

Four were seriously injured and 19 sustained minor injuries. Both bus and lorry drivers died on spot.  The lorry turn-boy identified as Steven Basiima was critically injured.

According to the Southwestern Regional Police Spokesperson, Polly Namaye the lorry driver left his lane and bumped into the bus.
