ALFRED Gumiikiriza earned a double feat after being voted the most valuable player (MVP) during the national pool awards at Lugogo Friday.

The award comes shortly after the Games City Pool Club icon was voted USPA player for the year 2012. The former Skin Samona top gun is largely credited for beating a strong field to the Nile Special Open crown.

Gumiikiriza also made a bold mark after making a daring move to the lower division from where he led Game City to the top flight league.

Women MVP Namuyanja gives a short speech as chief guest Sarah Muwonge Nkonge listens.

But USPA Female Pool Player of the Year Carol Kanzira could not replicate Gumiikiriza’s feat as she was beaten by Vicky Namuyanja in the Pool Association of Uganda awards.

A jovial Gumiikiriza promised fans more honours.

“Thank you for the support. It was not easy but I promise to keep winning this trophy,” he vowed.
