Nile Special Rugby League kick-off
AS clubs intensify preparations ahead of the Nile Special Rugby League later this week, G4S Pirates’ Moses Soita has warned opponents against under rating his side.
The league rolls off on Friday with defending champions Heathens hosting rookies Summerkamp.
Soita who has returned from a two-year retirement, said the venue squabbles will not affect their vision and with the material they have, Pirates is a title contender.
“They say that my return is a mere morale booster and just a scarecrow, citing my weight. But they are wrong; my weight is a big advantage. Just wait and see how we shall drive them on pitch,” Soita stated after training at Makerere ground on Wednesday.
“I only want to regain my fitness and that is why I am training on daily basis.”
The burly former Rugby Cranes eighth man now weighs 134kg and stands at 5.8ft tall.
Pirates coach Brian Makalama said that all that ‘his boy’ wants is fitness, but has improved greatly in morale, movement, ball handling and passing in the two days of training.
The league is sponsored by Nile Breweries under their Nile Special brand.
