Paul Aule’s dream of wedding his lover vanished in thin air after his wife’s parents blocked it.

Aule, a laboratory technician at Toroma Health Centre III, was set to wed another woman, Martha Asekenye, on January 26. But on Thursday the Archdeacon of Amuria, John Robert Olupot, cancelled the wedding.

Olupot cancelled the wedding on grounds that Aule, who hails from Usuk in Katakwi district was married with five children.

Aule was traditionally married to Agnes Akido about 12 years ago. He paid seven goats as dowry to Akido’s parents.

The 'groom-to-be' decided to transfer the wedding to Amuria where Martha comes from to avoid Akido’s parents from stopping the ceremony.

“I was informed by the parents of his first wife that Aule was married to their daughter, who is not aware of her husband’s plans to wed another woman,” Olupot said.

Aule told Archdeacon Olupot that he was single.

“He was set to be introduced to Martha’s parents on Saturday and wed the following Saturday,” Olupot noted.
