Landlord thumped over missing bull

KAMULI - A renowned landlord was thumped by a mob when they found him with a bull belonging to his brother-in-law. The bull had reportedly been missing for days.

Residents stormed Festo Kapere’s home after they got a tip-off that the bull had been sighted there. On reaching Kapere’s home, they found the bull and immediately started beating him.

Residents claim Kapere had already contacted some butchers to buy the animal at a giveaway price. He was saved by the Police, who whisked him away.

While at the Police station, Kapere became unconscious and was rushed to Kamuli Hospital for treatment.

Man pays dearly for snake game

JINJA - A man in Kainogogga village paid dearly for playing with a snake when it bit him. Kyesimire and his colleague were working in a sugarcane plantation, when they saw a snake crawl by.

When Kyesimire’s colleague tried to hit it, he stopped them saying he had skills in taming reptiles. He held the snake in his hands and started showing off.

But, a few minutes later, the snake bit him. He was rushed to a nearby clinic.

Suspected phone thief survives lynching at meet 

KAMPALA - The man in a red cap (right) was suspected of stealing a phone from a girl at Nakulabye Market recently. This was during a meeting between Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and the traders.

The girl realised that her phone was missing after the meeting and called for help. This attracted a mob, which threatened to lynch the suspect. He was, however, rescued by the Police.

Mbabara girl links bad manners to mother

MBARARA - A 15-year-old girl in Kashari shocked her mother when she assured her that she had inherited immoral behaviour from her.

Since she completed her exams, Jane, a Primary Seven vacist, has been drinking her self silly and smoking cigarettes from the village market.

She has also been sighted in the company of men, old enough to be her father.

Recently, Jane became pregnant and when her mother asked her about the person responsible, Jane instead started abusing her.

She told her mother that she had inherited the behaviour from her. She said all her maternal aunts had became pregnant while in primary school.

Upon hearing this, Jane’s mother started crying, packed some of her belongings and left the home. Residents tried to calm her down, in vain.

Jane boasted about the incident among her friends.

Footballers afraid of Kiteezi shrine

KAMPALA - Footballers who train at Kiteezi Primary School playground are living in fear of being attacked by spirits from a nearby shrine.

Whenever players have to take a corner kick, they are forced to stand in the compound of the shrine, which borders the playground.

Some of the players have threatened to quit training at the playground.

Indian boy flees from grasshoppers

JINJA - An Indian boy excited workers at the regional New Vision offices on Alidina Road, when he fled from grasshoppers.

The boy whose family lives on the third floor of the building, had been sent to a shop on the ground floor. However, on his way, he saw some grasshoppers crawling on the walls.

The six-year-old boy was so frightened by the sight and he decided to flee for his life.

He dashed into the New Vision offices panting like a dog. It was after workers at the office calmed him down that he narrated the story.

The boy dreaded insects thinking they would ‘eat’ him. Later, a worker at the office escorted him up to his home.

Teacher prays for more pay

KAMPALA - A teacher at a prominent primary school in Naguru excited his colleagues when he asked for a pay rise during a prayer.

The man, who teaches lower primary was asked to lead a prayer. He took the opportunity to ask God to "touch his bosses", so that they would increase their pay.

This prompted his colleagues to burst out in laughter.

Later, when one of the school administrators addressed the meeting, he said there were plans to increase the teachers' pay. At the end of the meeting, the teachers applauded their colleague for being courageous.

Some of them were overheard already hatching plans for the cash.

Buganda food etiquette

WAKISO - In Buganda, it is considered bad manners to talk with food in the mouth.

However, Wakiso district boss Mathias Bwanika and Busiro East MP Medard Seggona, seemed to have forgotten this simple rule.

They surprised onlookers at a function in Mende sub-county when they spoke on phone as they munched away.
