FLORENCE Andiru, the elder sister to the deceased Butaleja Woman MP Cerinah Nebanda, has changed her name.

Through her lawyers Kafuko Ntuyo and Company Advocates, Andiru, in a deed poll dated January 8 that appeared in the New Vision of January 15, changed her name from Florence Andiru to Florence Nebanda Andiru.

“May it be known to all men and the whole world that, I, Nebanda Andiru Florence, currently a resident of Butaleja town council in Butaleja district, have from this day and on my own free will and accord, willingly and without any force, duress or compulsion from anybody, changed my name of Andiru Florence to Nebanda Andiru Florence, by which names I should henceforth from now onwards wish to be known,” the deed poll reads.

“By this deed poll, I renounce the use of the names of Andiru Florence and expressly and unreservedly assume and adopt the use of the names Nebanda Andiru Florence which names I should be referred to and called and shall henceforth appear on all my documents, deed, instruments and papers as my true names from now onwards,” the notice further reads.

Nebanda is one of the candidates seeking to replace the late Nebanda on the NRM party ticket. She will be tussling it out with five other contestants in today’s NRM party primary elections ahead of the main byelection which will be held on February 11.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Cerinah Nebanda under unclear circumstances on December 14 last year.
