GULU - Residents of Opiki village in Lalongi sub-county were mid this week drowned in shock upon learning that an area resident had raped his own mother.

An overzealous David Ojok, 34, raped his 56-year-old mother before someone could come to her rescue.

The middle-aged woman was only rescued from her incestuous attacker when she made an alarm which attracted her daughter to the scene.

A seemingly remorseless Ojok was later arrested by Police.

Gulu police chief James Asubu said that by the time of the incident, Ojok was drunk, and ruled out a mental disorder situation.

Asubu said that upon interrogation, the victim admitted her son had raped her.

The suspect will be charged with incest, the police boss confirmed, which by law, attracts a seven years behind bars’ term.

According to the Penal Code Act when one is convicted in the courts of law, the maximum sentence for incest is seven years imprisonment.

Where the survivor is below the age of 18, the punishment is life imprisonment.

Incest can literary be defined as having sex with a relative, for example with a father, mother, daughter, son or any other person with a blood relationship.
