The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party national chairman, Sam Njuba has named the reconciliatory committee to hear and investigate concerns expressed by the leader of opposition Nandala Mafabi following the party’s presidential elections held on November 22, 2012.

The committee is to be headed by Ladislaus Kizza Rwakafuzi a prominent Human Rights lawyer.

Nandala’s team disputed the conduct of the electoral process in which Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu was elected FDC president, claiming the exercise marred by malpractices.

Njuba said the committee is to be headed by Ladislaus Kizza Rwakafuzi a prominent Human Rights lawyer.

Others on the committee include; Elizabeth Abong (senior lecturer) and Steven Okwalinga (former Police Commissioner) representing the Mafabi team while Nasser Obore Mudi and Atanasius  Rutaro will be representing Muntu.

Njuba said the committee secretary will be named shortly.

According to the terms of reference, the committee is to determine whether or not the omissions and commissions as contained in the memorandum took place during the elections process.

It will also determine whether or not the regulations regarding electioneering process, party code of conduct and any other instrument prescribed in the Party Constitution were breached by the persons named in the memorandum.

They include Alice Alaso (party secretary general), Dan Mugarura (party electoral chairman), the party president, Muntu and Anitah Among (deputy finance secretary).

The committee will also observe and determine the functions and relationship between the party organs and ad-hoc committee set up for electoral processes.

He said members on the committee were appointed after wide consultations.

“The committee will shortly be inaugurated and is expected to complete its work in 30 days with a draft report submitted to the chairman. The committee chairman is now in charged and will announce its program, place of work and will regulate its procedure,” Njuba noted.
