HER Majesty, the Queen of England has officially awarded prestigious hounour to four Ugandans for their generous contribution to the society.

 Queen Elizabeth II, who was represented by Professor Anthony Mellows OBE TD decorated Prof. Gordon Wavamunno, chairman and commander, St. John Uganda and was invested and issued with a prestigious honour of Knight of Justice of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem.

“The Queen recognizes people in any society who strive to assist the sick, poor and those who are needy in any form who in the end to seek any recogonisation,” said    Professor Anthony Mellows.

The ceremony   that was conducted  during the service at  All Saints Church Nakasero  on  Friday also honored  the retired  Bishop of Mityana Diocese  Wilson Mutebi who is also the vice chairman of the council of St. John who was admitted as a commander.

Others are Mrs. Christine Nandyose Kasirye the Secretary General of the Association of St. John  who was admitted as a Sister and Mr. William Katatumba  a long Serving treasurer of  the Association who was admitted as a serving Brother.

The retired Archbishop of Church of Uganda Luke Orombi who was the main celebrant for the function called upon Ugandans to be generous to the communities by assisting those who are needy.

Wavamunno said this recognition   has boosted in morale and will continue to serve the community as he has been dining.

The retired bishop of Mityana Diocese Wilson Mutebi said has been a member of St John since 1954 and currently is serving as a Brother commander, the title he is claims to be one of the topmost and that   he has never regretted to serve the community.
