OVER 800 heads of Secondary schools and principals of teacher training institutions from across the country have started a two-week long training on patriotism in Entebbe.

The training that was opened by the presidential advisor on political affairs, Maj. Roland Kakooza Mutaale, at Merryland High School in Entebbe on Friday.

He called on the teachers to teach the students to love themselves and their country. Mutale also asked the leaders of both government and private schools and teacher training colleges to teach their students to appreciate their heritage and colour.

Teaching patriotism was introduced by President Yoweri Museveni a few years ago to inculcate norms and values that will help pupils and students to love their country.

The national coordinator of the Patriotism program, Lt. Col. Henry Masiko said the training of heads of schools and colleges was aimed at helping them appreciate the value of patriotism so that they can facilitate its smooth implementation in their schools.
