The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has opposed the interdiction of Mulago hospital pathologist Dr. Silvester Onzivua, over Police cases of attempting to smuggle to South Africa fallen MP Cerina Nebanda body samples for toxicological tests.

'Dr. Onzivua was simply doing his job and so that could not have called for his suspension from official duties',  FDC  Party secretary spokesperson Wafula Oguttu  said at a press briefing at the party offices at Najjanakumbi on Monday.

Press reports said that Onzivua has reportedly been suspended by the hospital executive director Dr. Biteraba Byarugaba pending conclusion of the criminal case against him.

Onzivua was last month intercepted by security as he was about to travel to South Africa to take samples from Nebanda's body for an independent toxicological analysis to establish a cause of death he had been reportedly hired by the parliament. He was charged in court and released on bail.

Oguttu said Onzivua was asked by parliament to carry out tests on Nebanda's body parts so as to find out the cause of her death which could not have called for his arrest and neither suspension from work.

He said Onzivua's arrest proved to public that Government was in great panic hence making it the prime suspect for Nebanda's death.
