Six suspects have been arrested in connection to a murder of a UPDF soldier.

Lance Corporal Cosmas Bwengye, 36, attached to Mubende Army barracks was on Friday night murdered at Kyabamuhiga village, Kagongi Sub-county, Mbarara district.

Martin Abilu, the Rwizi region Police commander, said the assailants cut the deceased’s neck with a panga and left him lying on his bed in a pool of blood at around 11:00 three days after he was robbed of sh1.3m at gun point in his house.

“The deceased was trailed to his home and slaughtered without shooting a bullet and we suspect the killers connived with Bwengye’s wife, Miria Kusasira and were hiding in the house because there was no struggle to enter the house,” Abilu explained.

Six people all residents Kyabuhuga village including the deceased’s wife were arrested.

Other suspects include; Jackson Asiimwe aged 50, Clesensio Gumisiriza, 23, Deus Muhairwe, 40,   Paul Twinoburyo and Everlist Nuwamanya 27   and a local defence Unit (LDU) personnel at Kagongi sub-count.
