The Church of Uganda Archbishop, the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali has called upon Ugandan to make a new commitment of leading their country and their people, and leave the things of the old in 2012.
In his first sermon at St. Paul’s Cathedral ever since he was enthroned at the same December 19, 2012, Ntagali said Ugandans should look at 2013 with more hope of having a more peaceful Kampala City without tear gas and a lot of evil that have hindered peace and development.
“But in order to achieve this, we need to be changed inwardly and lead men and women to a better future. Let us leave all the hatred, violence, jealous and all other habits in 2012 and we start a new life of 2013 with hope,” said the arch Bishop in his New Year’s sermon.
“This we call all to do by walking a way of holiness, repentance and forgiveness,” said Ntagali.
Ntagali, who was preaching at the 10am service through a translator, thanked the congregation for welcoming him at both Namirembe Hill, where his residence is, and also in their fellowships.
“You have shown us love and we are ready to be friends,” he told the congregation amidst applause.
He told them that 2012 had many challenges and blessings before asking what kind of future are we expecting in the year 2013.
“Let us look at 2013 with hope for a better future. We are going to undergo a rebirth that has been made possible by our God,” he said before telling the congregants that with the world being full of uncertainties, accidents and dangers, only God can stand by them.
“We are born righteous but we are destroyed by the world through deceit, theft, corruption, immorality and greed. However is we give all our live to him, and then he is ready to make us righteous again,” he added.
Quoting Isaiah 35:1, he said that our misery has been taken away and we can now be able to see the glory of God before asking the nation to make the commitment.
“Let us take a stock of what happened in 2012 and then make a commitment which will see us begin on a better page.
With this, the lord will make our home, village, Kampala and the entire nation a better place to leave in,” he added.
“When the things gets tough and the journey gets rough, do not look unto the world, call upon the Lord and he will deliver you,” he summed up.
