Joseph Mayanja better known as Jose Chameleone has said that the death of an intruder at his home is traumatizing.
Robert Karamagi, 27, allegedly set himself ablaze after intruding into the singer's house on December 26 at around 7am when Chameleone had just returned to his home.
In an exclusive interview with the New Vision Tuesday morning, the Valu Valu singer said that the event has traumatized him and his family.
"I will never forget this event because it has put me in the middle of a rock and hard place, I am being implicated on something which just jumped into my life by a whisker, it is very traumatizing," said Chameleone who returned from Juba on Monday (December 31) where he travelled for perfomances.
He said that the general public was judging him and making baseless conclusions.
"People are saying that I beat him, burnt him up and so many things but I am a parent who cannot inflict pain on someone's child; he intruded into my house and I acted as a responsible citizen by calling Police," Chameleone said.
Karamagi's family and several neighbours allege that Chameleone and his crew members beat up Karamagi before setting him ablaze. He was buried on Sunday at Fort Portal.
However Chameleone said that he was sorry that Karamagi lost his life yet he did his best to save him by alerting Police which arrested him and took him to Mulago Hospital where he breathed his last.
"I sincerely pass on my condolence to the bereaved family and friends of Karamagi but I am very interested in the final investigation report by the Police such that the truth comes out, I am not above the law and I am ready for the outcome," said Chameleone.
The singer also refuted claims that he fled the country on December 27 after the sad event saying that it coincided with his already Juba performances.
The Police Monday revisited the singer's home and recorded more statements from Chameleone's family. Police recorded the singer's statement on December 26.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Idd Ibin Ssenkumbi said that Police is currently analyzing several statements it recorded as it carries out more investigation.
"We took several statements from several members of Chameleone's family and the neighbours and we are analyzing them as we carry out more investigation into the matter," said Ssenkumbi.
