High Court in Kampala has nullified the election of Luwero woman MP, Brenda Nabukenya, of the Democratic Party and ordered for fresh elections.

Justice Vicente Zeukerizeruled that the electoral body (EC) did not comply with electoral laws in the November 21011 by-elections.

NRM’s Rebecca Nalwanga petitioned court protesting the Luweero district returning officer, Peter Kasozi, decision to stop a vote recount exercise.

According to the returning officer, one of the ballot boxes had been tampered with. He announced Nabukenya as the winner and urged Nalwanga to seek court redress if she was not satisfied with the results.

Nabukenya beat Nalwanga with a small margin of over 30 votes.

NRM protested the results and demanded for a recount.

Nabukenya won the race with 14,945 votes against Nalwanga's 14,915 votes.
