Bukedde FM proved the most popular Luganda station in the land on Sunday while marking four years in business.

Hundreds of loyal Bukedde FM listeners endured the morning rain that lasted five hours and many more withstood blazing afternoon sunshine during the annual ‘Embuutu Y’embuutikizi’ fete at Nakivubo stadium.

Mayor Lukwago did not show up to 'play games' as he got down and grinding with Bukedde FM's Bills Butoddene

By lunchtime, pavilions and Kirussia were already filled to capacity as throngs of people continued to weave their way into the Stadium till late.

The day’s highlight saw ten wrestlers from Buganda counties compete in Bukedde FM sponsored ‘Kiggwo Ggumbya’ grand finale where Kyadondo’s Rajab Kyaka emerged the winner.

He was awarded a piece of land worth Shs10m by Jomayi Property Consultants.

The chief guest and Buganda Lukiiko Speaker, Hajji Musa Kaddu Sserunkuuma, applauded Bukedde FM and the Vision Group for revamping the traditional sport (Kiggwo Ggumbya) and urged the Group to popularise the sport in schools.

“This is a very important sport in Buganda culture and I thank Bukedde FM and the Vision Group for popularising and revamping the sport especially in primary schools so that our children can pick interest in the sport,” said Sserunkuuma.

About all local artistes entertained the mammoth crowd which cheered them on as business people made a killer buck feeding and quenching revellers’ thirst.

Vision Group’s head of marketing, Susan Nsibirwa, thanked all sponsors who came on board to make the event successful and thanked thousands of Bukedde FM listeners who turned up in surging numbers.
