USPA election winners

President                       :       Mark Namanya
General secretary        :       Swalley Kenyi
Organising Secretary   :      Mubarak Kasule
Treasurer                       :       Robert Magembe

KAMPALA - National Council of Sports (NCS) has applauded USPA for what it described as a high level of democracy that ushered in a new team of leaders for the next two years on Saturday.

NCS general secretary Jasper Aligawesa said that unlike other sports organisations that have been entangled in different fights among their leadership, USPA has stuck to their constitutional provisions and consistently elected smoothly.

“It is commendable. I’m impressed with the level of democracy in USPA. You keep your constitutional promise as it is. I wish other sports bodies did the same,” an excited Aligawesa said before offering to equip the USPA office in Namboole with a giant TV screen.

Elected USPA officials serve two terms of two years in office and are not allowed to contest for the same office thereafter.

Aligawesa presided over the elections that saw the assembly usher in Mark Namanya of Daily Monitor unopposed for a second two-year term in office.

The incumbent general secretary Swalley Kenyi (44 votes) of Vision Group returned after beating his former assistant Patrick Kanyomozi (28 votes) of KFM.

UBC’s Robert Magembe is the new treasurer replacing Sam Mpoza (NTV) after winning against Moses Kiwanuka (Mama FM).

Mubarak Kasule took over as the organising secretary.
