Uganda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Christopher Onyanga Aparr has hailed the relationship between Uganda and Nigeria, adding that their cooperation is growing stronger with over 1000 Nigerian tourists visiting Uganda since January this year and Nigerian investments growing.

“Nigerians have undertaken ventures in investments in Uganda especially, financial banking, insurance and ICT areas.  Banks like UBA, Ecobank, Orient Bank and National Insurance Corp have Nigerians as major share-holders.  A Computer giant, the Computer Ware House-Group (CWG) based in Kampala as a regional centre for computer technology and applications is owned by Nigerians,” Ambassador Onyanga Aparr said.

He was speaking during a cocktail celebration to mark Uganda’s Golden Jubilee at the Chelsea Hotel in Abuja.

The ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi who represented Hon Olugbeng Ayodeji Ashiru the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Also prominent among those who attended was Ugandan born Arch Bishop Augustine Kassuja the Pope's representative in Nigeria and the Ugandan Community in Nigeria led by their President Miriam Katende. The colourful ceremony saw a number of Ugandan dishes including Katogo served alongside traditional music.
