An accident at Mabira forest along the Kampala-Jinja Highway has claimed six lives while seven others are admitted in critical condition at Mulago and Kawolo hospitals.

The tragedy occurred after a Kampala-bound trailer (UAQ 955E) driver lost control and collided with a Kamuli-bound commuter taxi (UAN 085P) which had been hired by some Indians to and from Entebbe Airport.

The Buikwe district officer in charge of traffic Alex Muramuzi identified the deceased Alex Tibenakana the driver of the taxi, his five-year old son Lwali Braviki, the conductor Jafferi  Kabale and three unidentified Indians.

Those injured in the accident are Sunny Ogeda from Kisumu Kenya, Singh Patel, Vishel Patel, Pepank Kadialia, Olimgi Shumera, Prajapat and a 32 year old lady only identified as Esther.

For hours, traffic flow was affected on the highway as it was blocked by the fuel tanker. Heavy trucks made long queues on both sides of the road while smaller vehicles opted for alternative routes.
