Markets: Commodity prices rise slightly

Last week a couple of commodities in the market saw slight increase in prices. Among those whose prices went up are matooke, irish potatotes, green pepers and cumber.

The biggest bunch of matooke ranged between shs35000-45000, in almost all the markets. It previously cost between shs25000 to shs35000. 

Khalid, a trader at Balikuddebe market warns the price of matooke is likely to reach sh50, 000 by December due to the festive season.

Besides matooke, a kilogram of maize flour now costs between shs1600 to shs2000, and f rice costs between shs2500-shs4000 a kilogram.

Irish potatoes also experienced an increase in price. The big tin, eddebe can be purchased at shs18, 00 from any city market.

Samuel Kamya, an Irish potatoes’ trader in Kibuye market says the singo type of potatoes is expected on the market in November.
