Government has directed districts to hold their own independence celebrations after the 9th October as most of the district leaders will be attending the national celebrations at the Kololo Independence ground, Kampala.

Over 15 visiting heads of State will  grace the occasion hosted by President Yoweri Museveni.

"The chairman, RDCs, CAOs and NRM chairpersons of the district have all been invited to come and celebrate at Kololo. The districts should hold their own celebrations whenever they feel it is convenient for them. Because of national budget constraints each district has to fund itself for these celebrations," security minister who is the minister in charge of the presidency Muruli Mukasa has said.

Mukasa added that Members of Parliament had also requested that the districts should hold their celebrations at a later date so that they are divided on where to go on Tuesday.

The minister stressed that Monday will not be a public holiday following information stating that Monday was public holiday. "We have many public holidays. Monday is not a public holiday, even Wednesday is not a public holiday," Mukasa said.

He said that all Ugandans are invited to attend the celebrations at Kololo and  should be  at the grounds from 8.00am. As they enter they will be given food and drinks. Ugandans should not come with weapons, keep away mobile phones and cameras, he added. VIP have been have been given different time of arrivals schedule which the minister declined to publicised
