The mood for the Golden Jubilee independence celebrations cannot get better than this! Dancehall sensation, real name Garfield Spence aka Konshens, is here, and we cannot do much about it except party till dawn!

For those who have know the track Gyal a Bubble, you know have to witness this!

It all happens tonight at Kyadondo Rugby grounds. Konshens, and a host of 'spin-sick' DJs, including Vision Group's very own, are bringing Kampala down on its knees. This is a synopsis of what goes down tonight.

Gates open at 3:00pm, but the show kicks off at 7:00pm with a DJ battle. In that curtainraising gig-battle, spin masters DJ Shiru will take on DJ BeeKay.

Afterwards, Jamaican DJ, G-Money will take over the machines. Konshens, to be flanked by Jamaican artiste Darrio, will get on stage at 9:30pm.  Over 100 policemen and an anti-terrorist unit, will be on site.

After the concert, Konshens will be at the afterparty with X FM at Legends Bar, Kyadondo Rugby Club. You can still get a ticket at sh25,000 and sh60,000 V.I.P.

Go to any Nakumat branch or Mr. Price. To get you in on the prowess of tonight’s DJs, here are their exploits.

DJ GMONEY

To be dubbed Dancehall Ambassador, like it is with this Jamaican DJ, is no mean feat. DJ GMoney is popular for playing the best mix of reggae and dancehall music of all time. This will be his moment to bring a new avour to Ugandan mixing.

A radio presenter on BBC’s digital radio, he lives in Nairobi, Kenya, and is the programme controller of Uptown 91.1FM, Africa’s rst dedicated dancehall radio. He has been at the forefront of having dancehall artistes like Beenie Man, Christopher Martin, D Major, Darrio and Konshens perform in Kenya.

DJ SHIRU

He has performed at just about every big concert here - R.Kelly, Sean Kingston, the annual Club Silk street jam, name it. Born Kiberu Shiru, the Urban TV presenter prides in remixing songs live on stage. The Shirumatic Productions boss has been at it since 2004, and has performed in London, Scotland, Ireland and South Africa. He promises “massive mixing tonight.

DJ BEEKAY

He does his thing for Vision Group’s XFM, but he first gripped Kampala’s attention when he was with Sanyu FM two years back. He’s one of those reputed DJs in the Kenyan music industry, having spun there since 2005.

He has been a part of the Kenyan DJ unit Blackstar Entertainment, where he made news rocking most university events. Here, he is known as Kampala’s No.1 Corporate DJ. Remember him here at Demarco’s?
