The Principle Judge Yorokamu Bamwine has urged judiciary to come up with deterrent sentences for men who defile little girls.

He was speaking at the opening of the Justice and law workshop focusing on the child rights in Kampala.

The workshop’s theme” Protesting children against all forms of abuse, neglect and exploitation”, was founded by Justice and Law sector and UNICEF.

Bamwine said the matter had been brought forward by the Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki that defilers be given sentences of not less than 15 years in jail.

“We have many cases of defilement due to the short sentences in place. If this meeting brings it out we shall see for the first time people sentenced to death for defilement,” Bamwine said
