Two people were killed and several others injured in violent attacks involving two families in Lee village, Kucwiny sub-county in Nebbi district.

GimtomAguta, the officer in charge of Nebbi Police Station, identified the dead as David Ocircan, 21, and John Jambili, 64, both residents of Lee.

Aguta said as Ocircan was returning from drinking on Friday night, he was reportedly ambushed and slaughtered by Bernard Picoo, who accused him of not paying sh500 he had lent him.

He added that at the drinking joint, the two had had a verbal exchange in which Picoo accused Ocircan of having a love affair with his brother’s wife.

“The murder of Ocircan is the worst I have ever seen. How can a human being be slaughtered like a goat over sh500 or for dating somebody’s wife?” Aguta wondered.

Agutta said, on learning of the murder of their son, Ocircan’s family raided Picoo’s home to avenge Ocircan’s death but they did not find Picoo.

They instead got Jambili, the grandfather of Picoo, and killed him before setting his body ablaze in his hut.

“Bernard Picoo, the prime suspect, has handed himself to us but we are looking for other suspects in the killing of Jambili,” Aguta said.
