Jackie O Tumusime is a model and dancer with the Obessions. She had a chat with Carol Kasujja about love
Jackie, are you a virgin?
Hell no! I am too old to be a virgin.
Since you are happily dating, when is he walking you down the aisle?
What matters is what we share, not the ring. I would be lying if I told you that I have ever dreamt of my wedding day. Even if I close my eyes I do not see myself in a wedding gown.
Most of your friends are now mothers, when are you giving birth?
I do not know, but anytime, because I am ready.
Do you believe in not having sex before marriage?
If I did, I would be a virgin. That is an old story of boy meets girl, boys falls in love, boy proposes, the two get married and live happily. When it comes to sex, no one can tell a couple that they should wait. If you feel it is the right time, go ahead and have it. Marriage is not all about sex. You need it to get the exposure and avoid being boring.
Though I have respect for people who wait till marriage, that traditional way bores me.
What is the craziest thing you have done for love?
I am not telling you anything, because I am the definition of crazy. I do not want my mum to get a heart attack after reading the article and Uganda to judge me. Just know, I have done a lot of crazy things and I intend to do more.
What is your most embarrassing moment since childhood?
Hehehe! One time I was performing on stage and my wig fell off. I had a bad hair day and trust me; no artiste would want to be seen with the kind of hair I had. I continued dancing while the crowd and my group members laughed. I messed up the routine because I did not know whether to pick up the wig or continue dancing. After the performance, I picked it up and everyone was shouting at me. I felt so bad.
Would you fight for man?
With all these men in Kampala, why would I fight for a cheat? I cannot fight for a man. If he has made a choice, he probably needs a change. I would give him space and try to find out what made him cheat. I could be the problem.
Would you date a married man?
Apart from movies, there is no perfect man in this world. If I found a married man who respects, understands, loves and provides for me, I would definitely date him. It is hard to get a man with those qualities.
