Kampala Central MP Mohamed Nsereko was Monday arrested and detained for allegedly assaulting a police officer at his residence at Old Kampala.

Police say a crime investigation officer identified as Godfrey Nsobya attached to Old Kampala Police Station was attacked by angry residents at Nsereko’s gate at around 8:00am.

Police was alerted and intervened to rescue the police officer.

However, the noise outside the gate prompted Nsereko to move out of his gate to check what was happening.

The in-charge of operations Kampala Metropolitan, Sam Omara arrested the MP on spot and accused him of being behind the attack.

He was taken to Old Kampala Police station where he was detained for about four hours.

Nsereko who was handcuffed, was later transferred to the Central Police Station in a Police van registration no. UP 1228 accompanied by two police patrol vehicles where he is being detained.

The Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago and Kawempe division Mayor, Mubarak Munyagwa were blocked from accessing Nseseko at CPS.
