The parliamentary appointments committee has deferred the approval of three presidential nominees, Dorothy Hyuha, Zaake Kibedi and Suzan Adong Odong as Uganda's Ambassadors to different countries.

President Museveni nominated Hyuha as Uganda’s ambassador to Tanzania, Zaake Kibedi to Denmark and Suzan Adong Odong as Uganda's higher commissioner to Canada.

Sources on the committee intimated to New Vision that the three were rejected on various grounds which include lack of experience, failure to quit current positions and financial indiscipline.

According to sources, Dorothy Hyuha the deputy secretary general National Resistance Movement (NRM) was deferred after she refused to resign her position in the party.

Odong described as a fresh university graduate by the source was rejected due to what was termed as lack of qualifications and experience.

"She was found to be below standard, members advised the president to consider deploying her in other local areas because she lacks experience, this ambassador job requires a lot of experience one has to have worked in different fields and they should be experienced," a source said.

Zaake Kibedi a former MP for Jinja west was allegedly rejected following petitions against him over some financial woes.

"As members we said you cannot send someone who has domestic problems, we want him to first clear the money he got from people," the source noted.

In a separate interview Zaake attributed his woes to what he called a clique of saboteurs in Busoga region who are trying to fail his appointment.

Zaake said; "Though I have some debts I have never been declared bankrupt, I am settling the debts. The debts accumulated in 2010 during the 2011 general elections when I tried to help youth acquire motorcycles on loan but defaulted."

Hyuha recently told New Vision that her party position cannot stop her appointment.

Under section 16 of the political parties and organization Act, a person cannot be a public officer, when he or she is a member of a political party.

Meanwhile the committee chaired by speaker Rebecca Kadaga which approved appointment of Alintuma Nsambu, Richard Nduhura, Richard Angualia among other ambassadors is still making some consultations on those deferred before a final decision can be taken.
