Presidents jet in for Great Lakes region summit

South Sudanese president Salva Kiir Friday morning landed at Entebbe airport for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region summit aboard Ethiopian Airways.

He was the first president to arrive. Kiir was received by state minister for regional cooperation Asuman Kiyingi; Police Chief Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura among other top government officials.

UPDF mounted a guard of honor for the visiting president.

Uganda will be hosting an International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR)   Heads of State Summit from starting today at Speke Resort Munyonyo a Kampala upscale suburb.

More Heads of State and Government are expected to attend the Summit.

Other presidents expected to arrive in the country for the summit are; Mwai Kibaki (Kenya), Pierre Nkurunziza m(Burundi), François Bozizé (Central African Republic) and Paul Kagame (Rwanda).

ICGLR member states are; Angola, Central Africa Republic , Burundi, Rwanda, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
