Shanita Namuyimbwa known as Bad Black Monday charged with reckless driving at City Hall court.

Namuyimwa, who is serving a four year jail term in Luzira for fraud has been allowed to settle another case in which she is accused of injuring a six months baby and her parents in a gruesome accident out of court.

State prosecutor, Joyce Tushabe said Bad Black caused an accident in which a six months baby, Jamila Namulindwa, and her parents Ismail Nsamba and Fatuma Namusoke were seriously injured when she knocked them down in a hit and run accident while she was driving a Mercedes Benz number UAM 833Z silver in colour on December4, 2011.

The incident is said to have happened at Acacia Avenue in Kampala when Nsamba was riding Namulindwa and Namusoke on a motor bike.

The City Hall court grade two magistrate gave her up to September 17, to settle the case out of court or stand trial. Bad Black through her lawyers had complained before magistrate, James Wambaya that she cannot stand trial due to poor health.

She said she developed serious health complications when she gave birth through the Cesarean section and poor handling after delivery.  However Nsamba was not committal on whether they would accept the matter to be settled out of court.

Namusoke sustained a fractured leg while her daughter was injured on the head during the accident after which the accused is said to have abandoned the car and her pair of shoes at the scene near Casablanca pub in Kampala.

After the court session that lasted a few minutes in the magistrate chambers, Bad Black who was being guarded by the prison wardens took a front seat in the main court room waiting to be taken back to Luziira along with other suspects.

Nsamba said that although, Namulindwa and her mother were discharged from Mulago hospital where they remained for six months, they are still in poor health condition.

Bad Black was sentenced to four years in jail after she was convicted by the Anti-Corruption court of embezzling embezzling US$3.9m from the company she jointly owned with her ex-lover, a British engineer, David Greenhalgh.

Her lover, Meddie Ssentongo who was convicted on two counts of conspiracy to fraud was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment over the same.
