Legendary reggae and R n B singer, Judy Boucher, jetted into the country on Tuesday for a charity concert towards the construction of Uganda’s first multipurpose home for the elderly.

The home dubbed the Senior Adult Empire is an initiative of Ambition for Health, a local NGO. It will be based in Garuga along Entebbe Road and will offer a wide range of services including care, social support, recreational services and entertainment for the elderly.

“This is a great initiative. Care homes for the elderly are vital to each and every community,” said Boucher who was flanked by veteran local musicians Halima Namakula and Ragga Dee who were part of her welcoming party.

The singer from St. Vincent, in the Caribbean who says she does “music for lovers” is best known for runaway hits like Can't Be With You Tonight and Tears on my Pillow.

When asked which local entertainment acts she knew, she surprisingly mentioned Gaetano Kaggwa as the only Ugandan celebrity she knew because he is “hot” and was once in the Big Brother Reality show.

“I have a hunch that Can't Be With You Tonight” and Mr. dream maker will move the Ugandan crowds. Those songs always bring down the house everywhere I perform. I am looking forward to a great performance and meeting more Ugandans,” she said. Her concert is slated for Friday at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
