President Yoweri Museveni has arrived in Luanda, Angola for a two-day official visit.

The President was received on arrival at the Luanda International Airport by the Minister for Assistance and Social Integration, Joao Baptist Kussumwa and the Vice Governor of Luanda Province, Mr Graciano Domingos among others.

Museveni's visit is aimed at re-establishing relations between the two countries.

In addition to holding talks with his Angolan counterpart, Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, Museveni is expected to address a special session of the Angolan Parliament.

Museveni visited the monument of the first President of the Republic of Angola, Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto where he laid a wreath.

He later met and held discussions with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Antonio Paulo Kassoma who called on him at his residence.

Museveni and the speaker discussed several issues concerning the two countries and parliaments in particular.

The President’s visit follows the opening of an embassy by Angola in Uganda  in 2010. There are over 20 Angolan students studying at universities in Uganda.
