The newly instituted committee to harmonise both the FUFA and Uganda Super League constitutions with the aim of ending wrangles between the two bodies started its work on Friday, a day after they were announced.

Chairman of the committee whose first meeting sat on Friday, Anthony Kimuli (Entebbe Young) said that they addressed the size of FUFA executive committee, the assembly and powers of the federation president to appoint his executive members.

A FIFA delegation that was in Kampala to discuss the current trend of football development proposed reduction of both the executive committee and the assembly and democracy in election of the FUFA executive.

Amendments on the USL document will include having performance based leadership with regular elections of officials at both the umbrella body and at clubs.

“We hope to adopt what our brothers in Kenya are doing. We shall propose that a chairman of a team that has won the league takes over leadership of the USL,” Kimuli said.

The committee also has Mike Okua (KCC), Tadeus Kitandwe (Bunamwaya), Dan Kyobe (Water) from USL and FUFA vice presidents Mujib Kasule, Moses Magogo and Charles Ogwel as members.

The constitution review committee has up to July 31 to complete the process and report to FUFA ahead of its assembly in August.
